Wild Nothing’s released a new one, called Nowhere; with the chick from Twin Sister providing guest vocals. I do miss his more dream-poppy stuff, but it could be a grower. Just feeling too much of that Naff-Wave shit that was so big in the early 90’s and undid all the good faith Morrissey accrued from The Smiths. Download.
The second release from Memoryhouse’s The Slideshow Effect, due at the end of February. It’s called Walk With Me and it’s got a slow start that builds into an uplifting xylophone jam. It’s perfectly acceptable but I really hope they mix it up somewhat on the album. Download.
The first real single from Sleigh Bells’ upcoming sophomore album, Reign Of Terror. It’s called Comeback Kid and it’s got some incredibly melodic synth against the harsh beats and riffs that characterise their sound. I would love to be proven wrong in my prediction that Sleigh Bells will be all out of talent this time round, but it’s still too soon to tell.
Here’s the third sample of Cloud Nothings’ third (it is) album Attack On Memory. It’s called No Sentiment and it is brasher and far more aggressive than both No Future/No Past and Stay Useless. Some people will already have this song, and perhaps more, but you wouldn’t know anything about that, would you? Download.

Yeah, yeah. I know. But here’s the thing, it’s the write-ups that take so fucking long, so what I’m going to do with Hype posts from now on is post the track, and some one word descriptors for the sound. It could be band names or it could be buzz-words and faux-genres. But time is short and my wit is, believe it or not; finite, so that’s it for the mini-reviews for each track, at least for now. Some of the following tracks have been sitting around for a while, others are newish.
Remember that you haven’t followed NEO//NOIR on Facebook yet. You told yourself you would, but then you got distracted.
