ceo's got a new song. It's called Whorehouse and it’s the first thing we’re hearing from his forthcoming sophomore album Wonderland. Tropical, off-kilter synths and sing-along vocals make this one of the best things he’s released thus far. Wonderland is due out Feb 3rd.
DZ Deathrays have a new single out from their forthcoming second album. It’s called Northern Lights and takes things down a notch. It’s good to hear them branching away from that Death From Above 1979 tribute band sound (which, don’t get me wrong, is awesome), there’s definitely more confidence in this one.
Here’s the second song shared from Blood Orange'sforthcoming album . It's called You’re Not Good Enough, features dreamy girl/boy double vocals and the requisite flawless basslines we’ve come to expect from Devonte Hynes. Again, definitely taking the vibe he brought to Solange's EP and running with it on this.
Bully are a Garage Pop band from Nashville, and if the first single from their forthcoming self-titled EP is anything to go by, this is a band that are going places. It’s called Brainfreeze and it features bubblegum vocals over scuzzy, filthy guitars. It’s so rarely a track just grabs you immediately like this, savour it. Pre-order the EP on their Bancamp page.
Swearin’ have released the first single from their sophomore album, Surfing Strange. Watered Down is a 90’s drenched pop song exploring the failure of a relationship with fuzz and an apathetic drawl, classic Swearin’, if there is such a thing this early in the game. Surfing Strange is out November 5th.
Jake Hart makes downtempo R&B-esque Indie jams. Here’s his latest, Awake. There’s a little Toro y Moi and/or Arrange in here somewhere, I feel.
Go Violets just released a video for Wanted, the first single from their forthcoming Heart Slice EP. Try not to fall in love.
Los Campesinos! have just announced a new album, No Blues. Here’s the first song we get to hear from it, called What Death Leaves Behind. No Blues is out October 29th.
Heavenly Beat returns with the first single from his forthcoming sophomore album, Prominence. It’s called Complete and it certainly feels more assured than his previous work, everything feels polished, deliberate, and bouncy. The oriental-themed solo half way through is an especially nice touch.
